Stayin' Alive with CPR Training from AMR

Wednesday was AMR World CPR Day, helping people around the country brush up on CPR skills.

May 22 was AMR World CPR Challenge Day, which meant that cities and towns across the country participated in free "compression only" CPR training, including Nashua.

Two stations were set up, one in Greeley Park and the other at the Nashua Library, where the public was invited to stop by and get some instruction before demonstrating their skills.

Amanda Blais said her whole family would be coming for the training.

"First aid and safety are important to me as part of the community, and being prepared should someone need help is one way of giving back to the community," Blais said.

Patty Stolarz of AMR said more than 100 people had taken advantage of the free on-site training by about 4 p.m. in Nashua. Another 50 or so participated through a session at BAE Systems.

"Nationwide we're hearing that as of about 1 p.m. 10,000 people had participated," Stolarz said. "We really want to get out into the public more and provide this kind of training, so anyone having an event who would like us to come out for the CPR training, or touch-a-truck, should give us a call."
