The Week Ahead: Sidewalk Construction Update
Some rain delays, but progress continues along Main Street. Here's a dispatch from Public Works Director Lisa Fauteux.

We installed a street light foundation, three tree wells, continued the brick work, ran conduit from Cooking Matters to San Francisco Kitchen, placed loam in the planters and did some paving around the curb. We expected to complete additional work but were halted due to rain on Monday June 3 and Friday June 7. We also made an effort to minimize the disruptions to the sidewalk on Wednesday June 5, so the sidewalks could be open for the Taste of Downtown.
Next Week we plan to form and pour five pads of concrete from numbers 119 through 127 Main Street. On Monday, we will be peeling up the sidewalk and begin forming the pads in anticipation of pouring the concrete. Some of this work, including the pads in front of Castro’s, Nashua Garden and Cardin’s, will be done at night to reduce impacts to the businesses.

The brick work will continue on the West side of Block 2. Additional work on the Main Street Bridge crosswalk will be performed next week as additional curb and in-road lighting is installed. This work will be done overnight to minimize impacts to traffic. A sandwich board will be placed on the bridge on the day we plan to do the overnight work on the mid-block crosswalk as additional notification.
Green carpet will continue to be used to clearly indicate “open for business”. As always, we will do our best to limit the obstruction of parking and lanes and impacts to Main Street business.

Unfortunately, it is necessary to take parking spaces where we are working. Our schedule is tentative and subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances or inclement weather. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Andy Patrician, Operations Manager on site or at 589-3140 with any concerns. I will send you an update next week when I know the exact schedule of when the pads will be poured and when the overnight work will be completed. -Lisa Fauteux
