VIDEO: Dan Chan, Wild Irish Asian, Unleashed

Highlight reel from the March 15 Wild Irish Breakfast: Dan Chan doing his Johnny Most impression.

This Patch Clip begins with a Wild Irish Breakfast classic moment, where Dan Chan is in the middle of his remarks when former Mayor Bernie Streeter stands to rush him off the podium, a shtick familiar to anyone who's attended the annual PLUS Company fundraiser.

"I still got two minutes," says Chan, feigning defiance while holding up two fingers in Streeter's direction. "You think you're funny, for giving me three minutes to speak for the twenty-second time in 22 years."

And the involuntary laughter erupts around the Radisson ballroom, not only at Chan's deadpan delivery and Streeter's comic timing, but at the genuine relationship the two men have developed, after all these years.

Chan, for many years, operated the Singapore restaurant in Nashua, situated on prime real estate that eventually succumbed to development of the Pheasant Lane Mall.

Streeter, who dreamed up the annual Irish-themed fundraiser, has invited Chan to participate every year, affectionately dubbing the diminutive Asian "Daniel Patrick O'Chan" in honor of his larger than life presence.

Toward the end of the clip, Chan is acknowledging his fellow speakers at the dais, including former Boston Bruin hockey great Bob Sweeney, which reminds Chan to mention how hard the Bruins play on the ice, which leads into Chan's choice of a good-luck Boston Celtics team baseball cap he was wearing and their chance to make the playoffs, which segues into Chan's legendary impersonation of longtime Boston sports team announcer Johnny Most.

Although some of Chan's words are a little blurry due to his Chinese accent, the spirit of the moment is not lost in translation. You just have to watch.

For the uninitiated, there's also a YouTube video uploaded here of Johnny Most highlights, so you can make the comparison.

Cost of a Wild Irish Breakfast ticket this year: $85.

Witnessing Chan's three-minutes at the microphone, any year: Priceless.
