You Ask, Patch Answers: What's Up With The Main Street Curb?

We've fielded some questions from readers about the curb in the middle of Main Street by the lighted walkway. Here's the answer.

This week's question: "Can someone explain the granite curbing in the middle of Main Street and how it factors into the pedestrian walkway? Won't that pose a problem for safety vehicles and/or winter plowing?"

Public Works Director Lisa Fauteux explained that it's part of the lit crosswalk design, which will use "bollards" on either side to trigger the lights, as needed, when a pedestrian approaches the Main Street crossing.

To better understand how it works, watch the video, in which I walk and talk you through Fauteux's answer.
