Balancing Bridge Lift Span Proves Tough Challenge
The Memorial Bridge contractor is working to balance the weight of the lift span and two counterweights.

New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials say the Memorial Bridge contractor is having a tough time balancing the weight of the middle lift span and the two counterweights, according to the Union Leader.
Keith Cota, the state DOT's project manager, told the newspaper that Archer Western Contractors crews are trying to balance the weight of the lift span and the two counterweights within 4 percent and they are at 10 percent right now. Carol Morris, a spokesperson for Archer Western Contractors, told the Union Leader they anticipate the Memorial Bridge will open sometime in mid- to late July.
