Bank Robbery At Bank Of America Reported In Portsmouth

According to initial reports, the suspect did not display a weapon but stated he had one. Patrol and detectives responded with a K-9.

On Saturday at approximately 10:17 a.m., the Portsmouth Police Department took a 911 call for an armed robbery at the Bank of America at 848 Islington St.

According to initial reports, the suspect did not display a weapon but stated he had one. Patrol and detectives responded to the scene along with a Portsmouth Police K-9.

The area was searched but the suspect was not found. With the help of Portsmouth Police K-9 Crash, Officers were able to locate and ultimately collect evidence left behind by the suspect.

The suspect got away with cash, an amount that we are not releasing at this time. The white male suspect was wearing a black winter hat, sunglasses, and had a black face covering, approximate height 5’8 to 5’10. The suspect fled across the street toward the railroad tracks.

The Portsmouth Police Departments Detectives and Crime Scene Team fully processed the bank and spoke with witnesses. Due to this being an active investigation we are not releasing the type of evidence located at the scene nor are we disclosing the amount of money stolen. We would like to thank the New Hampshire State Police and the F.B.I. for their assistance with this investigation.
