Bike With Mayor, Bike To School: Portsmouth Bike Month Events
Portsmouth Mayor Jack Blalock invites the public to bike with him on Wednesday to celebrate Bike Month and see the latest road improvements.
PORTSMOUTH, NH — The city has a plethora of activities to celebrate May as National Bike Month. On Wednesday, Mayor Jack Blalock invites the public to join him for a bicycle ride beginning at noon at the City Hall. The bike ride will be a chance to also view the latest improvements to the Portsmouth roads to make them more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.
Also Wednesday is the National Bike to School Day. Portsmouth Middle School and Little Harbour School will host events that day, and Dondero Elementary School will host its event on May 29.
All month, community members will have a chance to partake in the Commute Smart B2B Challenge. Seacoast employers can create teams to bike, walk, carpool, or take a bus to work and receive special awards.

On Wednesday, May 15, certified bicycle instructors will teach "Building Confidence Bicycling in Traffic." This clinic is taking place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Little Harbor School in Portsmouth.
A "Visioning Session For Statewide Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan" with New Hampshire Department of Transportation will take place on Tuesday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m., at the Portsmouth Public Library.
