Bruins Legend Cam Neely Delights Fans

Boston Bruins VP and NHL Hall of Famer Cam Neely signs autographs and greets his fans at The Page Sports Bar and Restaurant.

Boston Bruins Vice President and NHL Hall of Famer Cam Neely must have spent more than 30 minutes signing his number 8 Bruins jersey and other sports memorabilia before the first fans were ushed upstairs to have their photos, jerseys and gear autographed.

But before Neely met any of them at The Page Sports Bar and Restaurant on Wednesday night, he came downstairs to meet Colby Hall, 10, of Auburn, and his parents, Jim and Julie Hall.

Jim Hall said his son, who is in a wheelchair, suffers from Spina Bifida and meeting Neely one week after he met Bruins legend Ray Bourque was a real thrill for the youngster. Neely shook the boy's hand and signed a photograph of himself raising his number 8 to the TD Garden rafters before taking a few photographs with Colby. The moment was just as prolific as any goal he ever scored during his storied career.

Neely spent the next hour signing jerseys, hockey pucks, posters, hockey sticks and photographs of himself in the black and gold for a steady stream of fans who journeyed from as far away as western Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island to meet him.

Neely's visit to The Page came one week after he was forced to cancel his first scheduled appearance with Bourque because of a previous engagement, but promised to come to Portsmouth tonight. Neely, the Bruins' vice president and an NHL Hall of Famer, played nearly all of his career with the Bruins. Bourque met with fans and signed autographs on March 6.

Neely will be the latest Boston sports celebrity to visit The Page this year. The Portsmouth restaurant hosted Boston Bruins star Milan Lucic in February, Red Sox Pitcher Tim Wakefield in June and Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski in July.
