Children's Day Coming This Sunday

1. Today's weather: Today will be sunny with a high temperature of 58 degrees. On Friday night, it will be clear with a low temperature of 42 degrees.

2. Chlldren's Day this Sunday: Pro Portsmouth's annual Children's Day event will be held this Sunday, May 5, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in downtown Portsmouth. Pleasant Street will be closed during the event.

3. EDC meeting: The city's Economic Development Commission will meet this Friday morning at 7:30 at City Hall. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.

4. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day: The city will hold its bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 4 for the residents of Portsmouth, Greenland and Newington. People can bring their household chemicals to the Public Works Department facility on Peverly Hill Road between 8 a.m. and noon and proof of residency is required.

5. Sarah Long Bridge closed: According to New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials, the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge will be closed to motor vehicle traffic until May 25 because of the extensive repairs that need to be done.
