City Man Charged with Raising a Ruckus on Rooftop

The following information was provided by the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Saturday, Sept. 21 to Sunday, Sept. 22.

Saturday:

  • At 11:38 a.m., police reported a hit and run accident on Islington Street.
  • At 1:53 p.m., police reported an accident at the High Hanover Parking Garage on Fleet after an SUV was wedged in the Fleet Street entrance. City workers were able to help the driver free the vehicle.
  • At 2:04 p.m., police reported a motor vehicle theft on Ledgewood Drive after the caller said she loaned her car to a male who did not bring it back the next day.
  • At 2:27 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on Rock Street after some graffiti was discovered on the wall of a building.
  • At 7 p.m., police reported criminal threatening on Bow Street after the general manager of an establishment said he tried to move along some male subjects  outside of the business who were harassing customers and patrons. The male subjects became more agitated and told the general manager to "step away from the bar and they would rough him up."
Sunday:
  • At 12:53 a.m., police reported disorderly conduct on Islington and Pearl streets where a male subject was observed taking down political signs.
  • At 1:01 a.m., police reported a fight inside a building on Market Street.
  • At 5 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man after he and a group of people were loud on top of a State Street roof top for several hours. Cory M. Fonteyne, 26, of 12 Simonds Road, Apt. 0 was charged with disorderly conduct.
