City Democrats to Hold Gun Violence Prevention Forum
Event to be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Portsmouth Public Library.

On Wednesday night the Portsmouth Democratic Committee will host a forum entitled “Gun Violence Prevention in New Hampshire.”
The event will focus on ways to promote gun safety in the Granite State, including legislation in the state legislature and Congress. The event will be held at the Portsmouth Public Library in the Levenson Community Room. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
Speaking at the forum will be Cathie Whittenburg, Regional Coordinator, States United to Prevent Gun Violence; Renny Cushing, State Representative from Hampton; Burt Cohen, former State Senator from New Castle; and Lisa Bellanti, Attorney from Portsmouth.

Judy Stadtman of Portsmouth will be the moderator. There will be opportunity for audience questions.
“Following the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut, this issue has acquired real urgency” said Larry Drake, Chairperson of the Portsmouth Democratic Committee. “I encourage anyone concerned about preventing gun violence to attend.”
