City Has Lots of Music, Theater This Weekend

Shut Down Brown Band at Thirsty Moose Taphouse Saturday; "Rounding Third" continues at The Rep; "Love" at the Players Ring.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. Singer/Songwriter festival: The Portsmouth Singer/Songwriter Festival continues this weekend at the Music Hall and Music Hall Loft and will culminate with a concert on Sunday night by Aimee Mann and Sharon Van Otten.

2. "Rounding Third" at The Rep: The play, "Rounding Third," which tells the story of two Little League coaches who debate the timeless question of whether they are playing to win or to have fun continues its run at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre this weekend.

3. Shut Down Brown Band at Thirsty Moose: Maine's own Shut Down Brown Band will perform at the Thirsty Moose Taphouse on Saturday from 9 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

4. Crunchy Western Boys: The group Crunchy Western Boys will bring their sound to the Press Room on Friday night. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5.

5. Fall in "Love": The Player's Ring will have the play, "Love," on Friday at 8 p.m. This collection of monologues, music, plays and visual arts celebrate the greatest of all human emotions.
