City Woman Charged with Stabbing Kittery Man with Scissors

Kittery, Maine, Police say incident happened on Sunday night on Wilson Road in Kittery, Maine.

A Portsmouth woman was charged with stabbing a Kittery, Maine man in the stomach with a pair of scissors on Sunday night in that community.

Kittery, Maine Police Chief Paul Callaghan said Layla M. Bautista-Gaspar, 36, last known address of 22 Columbia St. in Portsmouth, was arrested Sunday night at the Wilson Road residence where the incident occurred. He said Bautista-Gaspar was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, a Class B felony, and was held on $10,000 cash bail in the York County Jail in Alfred, Maine.

Callaghan said Bautista-Gaspar was scheduled to be arraigned in York County District Court on Monday.

According to Kittery Police, the incident was reported at about 7:15 p.m. on Wilson Road. Police officers found a 69-year-old male resident with a stab wound to the stomach and the man was transported to York Hospital for treatment.

Following their investigation, Callaghan said police officer charged Bautista-Gaspar.
