Rabid Cat Reported on Porch of Wedgewood Road Home

The following are excerpts from the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, Sept. 8.

Sunday:

  • At 9:37 a.m., police reported a rabid cat on the back porch of a Wedgewood Road home.
  • At 11:09 a.m., police reported a two-car accident without injury on West and Peverly Hill roads.
  • At 12:33 p.m., police reported another two-car crash on Pleasant and State streets.
  • At 8:26 p.m., police reported a single car accident on Greenland Road where the driver ran over the median on Middle Road and Islington Street causing car parts to be left in the roadway. The vehicle was later towed from the scene.
  • At 8:43 p.m., police reported harassing phone calls at Beechstone Apartments.
  • At 10:20 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on Middle Street. Nicholas Mecum, 35, of 600 Lafayette Road was wanted for a bench warrant.
  • At 11:52 p.m., police said Mecum returned to the same address where he was not wanted and had been arrested more than an hour ago.
