Crews Install Pulleys Atop New Memorial Bridge

Archer Western Contractors crews began the putting the big round pulleys that will elevate the middle lift span on Wednesday afternoon.

High atop the new Memorial Bridge's towers sit two sheaves each that represent the big round pulleys that will lift the two 500-ton counterweights for the middle lift span.

Archer Western Contractors crews began installing the four sheaves on Wednesday and will continue to do so into Thursday in preparation for the middle lift span float in that is scheduled to take place on June 10.

According to New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials, the new Memorial Bridge is scheduled to be completed and open to motor vehicle traffic in July. The installation of the four sheaves represents another step toward reaching that goal.
