Five Things You Need to Know Today, Dec. 5

Seabrook Station sirens to be tested Wednesday; enter Patch's Deck the House holiday lights contest; some showers in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for showers, mainly before noon. High near 52. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. On Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph.

2. Seabrook Station sirens to sound: New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management officials announced that Seabrook Station's 121 sirens will be tested on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. 

3. Historic District Commission: The Portsmouth Historic District Commission will meet on Wednesday at City Hall at 7 p.m. The agenda can be viewed on the city's web site.

4. Enter Patch Deck the House contest: Portsmouth Patch is accepting submissions of photos and video from Portsmouth residents who believe they have the best holiday lights for the Patch Deck the House contest. The winner of the nationwide competition will receive $100,000 for their local school district and have their electricity bill paid for one month.
