Middle School Joint Building Committee meeting tonight; Christmas tree disposal continues; cold, sunny day in the forecast.
1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly sunny day, with a high near 43. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. On Wednesday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind 10 to 14 mph.
2. Middle School Joint Building Committee: The Portsmouth Middle School Joint Building Committee will meet at City Hall on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the School Board Conference Room.
3. Eat, drink and support The Rep: Martingale Wharf restaurant will donate 10 percent of dining proceeds on Wednesday night from 4 p.m. to close to support the Seacoast Repertory Theatre as part of its weekly Give Back Wednesday! campaign to support Portsmouth nonprofit groups.

4. Christmas tree disposal: Through Jan. 11, the city will collect Christmas trees from the curbside on trash and recycling days. Residents also may bring Christmas trees to the Recycling Center for disposal.
5. "Sell a cell" at PHS: The Portsmouth High School Environmental Change Organization has teamed up with Revolution Energy to help Portsmouth High School invest in solar panels via the "Sell a Cell" program. Local community members can purchase a cell of a solar panel for $5 or a whole solar panel for $300. The panels will be installed at the high school to help defer energy costs.
