Flatbread to Hold Bridge Illumination Fundraiser

Congress Street restaurant will donate a portion of pizza sale proceeds to project's $200,000 goal.

The Illumination Subcommittee of the Memorial Bridge Project is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m., Flatbread on 138 Congress St. in Portsmouth will host a community fundraiser to benefit the Memorial Bridge Illumination project.

According to the committee’s chairman, Peter Somssich, Flatbread approached the group to offer their support for this exciting undertaking, which they believe will be a great enhancement and attraction to our seacoast communities. The committee has been working for the past six months together with lighting designer John Powell and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation on a plan to use color-changeable, energy efficient LED lighting to illuminate the  new Memorial Bridge.

Flatbread is well known for its support of sustainable organic local farms and producers and the community at large. That is why during the evening of Jan. 8 a donation of $3.50 for every large flatbread sold, and $1.75 for every small flatbread sold will be donated to the illumination project.

In addition to offering the residents an opportunity for a great meal that will also benefit an exciting seacoast project, visitors of Flatbread on Jan. 8 will have the opportunity to receive more information about the plans to illuminate the new bridge and how they can support this effort, whether as an individual or a business.

We are grateful for Flatbread’s support, and hope that seacoast area residents use this opportunity to express their support for our illumination project.
