Committee to Consider Major Development Projects

USS Thresher victims to be remembered; Restaurant Week begins Thursday; mostly sunny day in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly sunny day with a high near 41 degrees. On Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear with a low around 25 degrees.

2. Gov. Maggie Hassan to assess bridge damage: Gov. Maggie Hassan is scheduled to tour the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge on Tuesday morning to learn more about the damage caused by a tallow oil tanker that crashed into it on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, engineers with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation are expected to continue their bridge inspection.

3. TAC meeting to tackle several projects: The city's Technical Advisory Committee will look at several major development projects in downtown Portsmouth when it meets at City Hall at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.

4. USS Thresher victims to remembered: This coming weekend, hundreds of Portsmouth area residents will come together to remember the 129 sailors and civilians who perished on the USS Thresher (SSN 593) on April 10, 1963. There will be a 50th Annual USS Thresher Memorial Service on Saturday at Portsmouth High School and the USS Thresher Memorial dedication at the Kittery Traffic Circle on Sunday morning. Both events are by invitation only.

5. Restaurant week: Restaurant Week Portsmouth and the Seacoast is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 4 through April 13.
