Heavy Rain Hits City; Heavy Snow Inland
In a tale of two storms, the National Weather Service forecast calls for Portsmouth area to get up to four inches of snow later today.
There is only one word to describe this snow storm that has dumped more than a foot of snow in Portsmouth area communities like Eliot and South Berwick, Maine and delivered heavy rain here in the city - weird.
But fear not, Portsmouth residents. According to the latest National Weather Service forecast all of this heavy rain will eventually change over to snow and the city could get 2- to 4 inches by the time it ends tonight.
Meanwhile, residents in communities located just a few miles west and north of Portsmouth continue to dig their way out of the first significant snow storm of the season in what is now a winter wonderland during Christmas vacation.
