Is Dan Innis the Next Dave Brat?

Dan Innis, a Portsmouth businessman, is casting himself as a Washington outsider against former Congressman Frank Guinta in the race for the GOP nomination.

Is Dan Innis, who is running against Frank Guinta for the Republican nomination in the 1st Congressional District, the next Dave Brat?

Underdogs and Tea Party faithful have interpreted what Brat's upset of Eric Cantor in Virginia means for their campaign – or for their candidate. Politico dives back into the storyline with a post citing would-be Dave Brats around the country. Its article identifies Innis, a Portsmouth businessman, as one of the underdogs with potential.

An excerpt of the Politico story:

"Unlike Brat, Innis – who stepped down as dean of the University of New Hampshire’s business school to mount his bid – isn’t running to Guinta’s right. But Innis is running as an outsider, as opposed to Guinta, who after being rejected by voters in 2012 quickly jumped back into a third campaign.

Innis hasn’t raised much money but is getting some backup from a super PAC dedicated solely to his race, NH Priorities PAC. Its first ad this week begins: 'Washington is broken. But we’ll never fix it by sending the same people to Congress year after year.'"

The "Washington is broken" theme is now on NH Priorities PAC mailers hitting post office boxes around the 1st District (like the photo of one attached here).

Innis will also try to raise his profile in upcoming forums and debates, such
as the Merrimack GOP forum June 23, and a Bedford GOP candidate forum July 8.
