Police Called After Former Employee Double-Charges Customers

The following are excerpts from the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Wednesday:

  • At 6:10 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Summer Street after the owner of a Mercedes Benz said the rear window was smashed out.
  • At 10:14 a.m., police reported truancy on Wedgewood Road.
  • At 11:35 a.m., police assisted the Portsmouth Fire Department with a call for a live wire that had been ripped off of a building on Cabot Street.
  • At 12:12 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on McDonough Street after two people were seen walking down the railroad tracks behind a residence. Warren Carlton Kennett, 48, of address unknown was charged with criminal trespass.
  • At 1:13 p.m., police arrested a Kittery, Maine man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station. Christopher J. Riley, 19, of 10 Moore St. was wanted for possession of controlled narcotic drugs and falsifying physical evidence.
  • At 1:52 p.m., police reported an unattended death on Striped Bass Avenue.
  • At 2 p.m., police reported a theft of a Droid cell phone and purple case on Andrew Jarvis Drive.
  • At 2:41 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on State and Summer streets after the rear window of a Mercedes Benz was smashed out and the plates were stolen.
  • At 3:15 p.m., police reported fraud on Lafayette Road after an ex-employee doubled charged customers for more than $1,000.
  • At 3:33 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station. Justin Robert Drew, 28, of 600 Lafayette Road was wanted for receiving stolen property.
  • At 7:21 p.m., police reported a simple assault on Weald Road after a parent separated two boys, including his son, who were wrestling on the ground after arguing about a bicycle. Police also reported that no simple assault took place.
