Kittery Residents Hope to Learn More About Resignations

Community forum Saturday will focus on resignations of Town Manager Robert Markel and former Police Chief Paul Callaghan.

Kittery residents will have their chance to learn more from town officials about the resignations of Town Manager Robert Markel and former Police Chief Paul Callaghan this Saturday.

According to Kittery Town Clerk Maryann Place, a community forum will be held at the Kittery Community Center at Frisbee Commons on Saturday at 10 a.m. Town residents will be able to ask members of the Town Council about the resignations that occurred following a Town Council meeting that took place on Dec. 10.

The two resignations followed a controversial vote of no confidence by Kittery Police officers in Callaghan last fall. Callaghan officially resigned from his post on Dec. 21 and Markel's last day is on Jan. 21.

Need to get out of the cold and do some fun indoor activities? Look no further than the Kittery Community Center at Frisbee Commons. The Kittery Recreation Department offers several indoor fitness and dance classes as well as open gym, kids and adult basketball as well as live music and theater at the performing arts center.

Events:

Fly tying class at KTP: The Kittery Trading Post is offering a fly tying class taught by Scott Round on Thursday, Jan. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Class size limited to 12 and advance reservations/sign up are required.
