Let's Go 'On the Road' This Weekend

Jamsterdam to rock Thirsty Moose Taphouse Saturday night; "Godspell" at The Rep this weekend; Michael Tarbox to play at the Press Room.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. Jamsterdam at Thirsty Moose: The rock band Jamsterdam will rock the Thisty Moose Taphouse on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

2. "On the Road" at Music Hall: The film, "On the Road," based on Jack Kerouac’s American novel, will be screened at the Music Hall on Sunday at 7 p.m. and also on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Music Hall's website, the film tells "the story of Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, and Dean Moriarty, a devastatingly charming ex-con. Sal and Dean bond instantly upon meeting. Thirsting for freedom, they head off in search of the world, of other encounters, and of themselves."

3. "Godspell" at The Rep: The Seacoast Rep's Teen Stage Ensemble will perform the musical "Godspell at The Rep this weekend. Opening night is Friday.

4. Michael Tarbox at Press Room: Michael Tarbox will perform at the Press Room on Saturday night. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5.

5. See "Comedy, Unplugged" : The Player's Ring will have the improv show, "Comedy, Unplugged" on Friday at 8 p.m. DARWiN’S WAiTiNG ROOM employs comedy centered on universal themes and, for the most part, oriented toward a family-friendly audience.
