Memorial Bridge Decks Nearly Complete in Kittery and Portsmouth
Archer Western Contractors officials say the new South Span will be floated down river and put into place sometime in January.

On the Portsmouth side of the bridge, Archer Western has placed the concrete for the Scott Avenue approach. The remainder of the work on the Scott Avenue approach will be completed in 2013.

In Kittery, construction of the new abutment for the approach is completed, precast beams have been installed and the concrete bridge deck has been placed. The concrete wingwalls will be placed sometime in January.
Hub Foundation Company continues to install the micropiles on Pier 3, the final pier to be completed. The first half of the eighteen micropiles have been installed. Archer Western will continue on double shifts until micropile installation on Pier 3 is complete in January. Archer Western sincerely appreciates the patience and good will of nearby residents in the face of the extended work hours.

Crews continue to construct the superstructure for the south fixed span of the bridge at the N.H. State Pier. This first section of the bridge will be floated upriver by barge sometime in January. The barge will then return to the State Pier, where construction of the north fixed span will begin. Construction of the south tower will begin the end of January.

First Night 2013, Monday, Dec. 31. Pro Portsmouth will put on its annual New Year's Eve celebration in downtown Portsmouth from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. that will offer families plenty of fun activities, music, ice sculptures and fireworks at 8 p.m. over the South Mill Pond.
