Missing Man From Portsmouth Found Dead In Newington Monday

Adam Camarato of Eliot, Maine, who went missing in downtown Portsmouth almost a month ago, was found dead at the Great Bay shoreline Monday.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — The body that was found at the Great Bay shoreline in Newington Monday night has been identified as 32-year-old Adam Camarato, who went missing in Portsmouth almost a month ago. Camarato, of Eliot, Maine, went missing in downtown Portsmouth in the early hours of April 27, and he hasn't been seen since. On Monday night, Newington Police and Fire departments responded to shoreline at Fox Point after discovery of a deceased body. An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined that it was Camarato's body.

Monday night, Newington officials said they notified the Portsmouth police about the discovery of the body due to the ongoing missing-person investigation involving Camarato. He was last seen around 12:45 a.m. on April 27, when he was leaving Clipper's Tavern in downtown Portsmouth. According to Portsmouth police, video surveillance then showed him walking on State Street toward the bridge leading to Maine.

On Tuesday, the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and was able to identify the discovered body as Camarato. The circumstances behind his death are still unknown.
