Mobil on the Run Robber Indicted

A Rockingham County Grand Jury indicted Ronald Lee Bauer for armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon.

A convicted felon who police say robbed a Portsmouth convenience store at gunpoint last winter has been indicted by a Rockingham County Grand Jury.

Ronald Lee Bauer, 48, who is currently being held at the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord, was indicted for one count of armed robbery and being a felony in possession of a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, Bauer held up the Mobil on the Run convenience store on Jan. 12. Bauer allegedly pointed a .45 caliber handgun at the store clerk.

Portsmouth Police Capt. Mike Schwartz previously said Bauer, 48, was charged with the armed robbery. He said Bauer was being held at the State Prison after he committed a parole violation.

Schwartz also said that Bauer is also wanted as a fugitive from justice from the State of Maine for attempted murder relating to an incident that occurred in Lebanon, Maine on Jan. 8. He said the Somersworth Police Department will also be filing an armed robbery complaint against Bauer for an incident that happened at a convenience store on Route 108 on Dec. 28.

If convicted of armed robbery, Bauer could face 10- to 20 years in State Prison. If convicted of being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon, Bauer could face an additional 3 1/2 to 7 years behind bars.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but means that a grand jury has sufficient cause to forward the case to a jury trial in Rockingham County Superior Court.
