Mother Accused of Kidnapping Daughter from New Orleans

The 11-year-old girl is now in custody and will be returned to her father in New Orleans, La.

New Hampshire State Police arrested a driver on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth on May 9 on a charge of kidnapping her 11-year-old daughter from New Orleans.

Andrea Brooks, 34, address unknown, was taken to Rockingham County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Portsmouth.

State Police and detectives worked to identify the whereabouts of the daughter and ultimately located her in Dorchester, Mass. Boston Police officers responded to that residence and took the girl safely into custody. She was taken to Carney Hospital in Dorchester as a precaution and was released to the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.

Police said arrangements are being made to return the girl to her father in the New Orleans, La., area.

Additional charges may be forthcoming.

Trooper John Kelly and Trooper Gregory Hildreth continue to investigate the case, with cooperation from multiple law enforcement agencies. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact either Trooper at State Police Troop A at (603) 223-8490.
