Mother and Son Mother's Day Dance This Saturday

1. Today's weather: Today will start out foggy before 9 a.m. with gradual sunny skies and a high temperature near 70 degrees. On Tuesday night, there will be some fog with a low temperature of 51 degrees.

2. Mother/Son Mother's Day Dance this Saturday: The Connie Bean Center will host the 17th annual Mother's Day Mother/Son Dance on Saturday, May 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Boys in grades K-5 can bring their moms, aunts or grandmothers. There will be a Hawaiian theme and everyone will receive a lei. Contact the Portsmouth Recreation Department for more details.

3. Parrott Avenue lot to be closed: Half of the Parrott Avenue parking lot will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday from 4 a.m. to 12 noon because the city Public Works Department needs to do some maintenance work.

4. Bridge lighting panel to meet: The Memorial Bridge Illumination Subcommittee will meet on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Kittery Community Center at Frisbee Commons in Kittery, Maine to make a presentation on their capital campaign to raise $200,000 to light up the new span.

5. Hit the Decks Thursday: The Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Hit the Decks 2013 event in conjunction with several Portsmouth restaurants Thursday all day long, rain or shine.
