Newington Fire Chief Dies After Cancer Battle

The Newington Fire Department announced that Chief Darin Sabine has died after battle with cancer.

NEWINGTON, NH — Fire Chief Darin Sabine died on Saturday after a two-year battle with cancer, the Newington Fire Department has announced. Sabine died at the age of 35 after serving Newington "with immense enthusiasm and unparalleled dedication," according to the Fire Department's website.

Sabine became a Newington firefighter several years ago as a call member, progressing as a part-time firefighter to deputy chief and then to chief. He began his battle with cancer about two years ago, all the while serving as the town's fire chief.

"The Sabine family continues to remain at the forefront of our thoughts and in our utmost prayers," Newington Fire Department officials stated.
