NH Approves $100K to Officer Arkell's Family

Governor Hassan and the Executive Council authorized the payment June 4.

The New Hampshire Executive Council has approved paying $100,000 to Mrs. Heather Arkell, the surviving spouse of slain Brentwood Police Officer Stephen Arkell.

The council authorized the disbursement June 4. The money, per state law, is 100 percent state general funds.

The official online fundraising website for Mrs. Arkell – SteveArkell.com – has raised $59,218 of a $100,000 goal.

Officer Arkell was killed in the line of duty May 12 when he responded to a domestic dispute at a house in Brentwood. The man who killed him set multiple fires to the house, which then exploded.
