NH, Maine DOTs Seek $25M for Sarah Long Bridge
Two state agencies apply for federal grant to offset $172 million bridge replacement project.

The New Hampshire and Maine departments of transportation have applied for a $25 million federal grant to offset the $172 million Sarah Mildred Long Bridge replacement project, according to Foster's Daily Democrat.
The two state agencies are seeking a federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recover grant similar to the one they received for the Memorial Bridge project, according to the newspaper.
The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge has been closed since April 1 after the Harbour Feature tanker broke loose from its moorings at the New Hampshire State Pier and slammed into the Portsmouth side of the span. New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials hope to have the bridge reopened for motor vehicle traffic by May 25.
