No School in Portsmouth

Winter storm gives Portsmouth School kids another snow day.

There is no school today in Portsmouth thanks to a fast-moving winter storm that could dump anywhere from six to 12 inches of snow in the Portsmouth area.

In addition to Portsmouth Schools, the winter storm has created a number of other closures that include all classes at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, Great Bay Community College, Franklin Pierce University, Hesser College and the PEAK programs at the Portsmouth elementary schools.

The Great Bay Kids Company at Pease International Tradeport and Granite State College are also closed today. The Portsmouth Music and Arts Center is also closed.

Portsmouth Public Works Director Steve Parkinson issued an advanced snow emergency warning ahead of the winter storm on Monday and that could turn into a snow emergency later this morning.
