Northeast Credit Union In Portsmouth Welcomes New Leadership

The Northeast Credit Union in Portsmouth is welcoming Jennifer Day and George Sutherland as new leaders in its IT department.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — The Northeast Credit Union has new leadership in information technology. Vice President Jennifer Day and Assistant Vice President George Sutherland have recently been hired to the IT team. Both are bringing innovation, improved processes and higher standards of excellence, according to a statement from the Northeast Credit Union.

“We are very excited and fortunate to add Jennifer and George to our NECU team,” stated Michael Gagnon, senior vice president and chief information officer with the Northeast Credit Union. “Their skills, background, and demonstrated leadership presence will be immediately felt as technology continues to advance and drive our efforts to provide exceptional service while helping to improve our members’ financial well-being.”

As IT vice president, Day's duties will be managing the credit union’s technology effectiveness and strategic organizational goals. She has previously worked as director of technology and information services for the town of Scarborough, Maine.
“I am very excited to return to financial services, particularly for an organization that is so community and member oriented,” said Day. “I look forward to contributing to this amazing team.”

Day is a Colby College graduate who also attended the Institute for European Studies in Vienna, Austria. She has a project management certification from the University of Southern Maine and is a high-honors graduate of the National Graduate School of Banking at Fairfield University.
Day also lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for nearly ten years. In her time there, she served as a lobbyist, political action committee director and member services executive for several national and global trade associations, according to Northeast Credit Union. She currently lives in Scarborough with her husband Jim and their daughter Bryce.

Sutherland, as assistant vice president of IT, will be responsible for managing and supporting the Core systems and applications used at the credit union. Sutherland had spent about 20 years in the field of financial services information technology. Most recently, he worked as the senior information officer at Sharon Credit Union in Sharon, Massachusetts.

“I am excited to be here at NECU," said Sutherland. "It is a dynamic environment and is committed to serving the community. I am looking forward to using my skills and experiences to help NECU in their mission of delivering exceptional service to their members.”
When not working, Sutherland coaches baseball, softball and football, teaches financial literacy skills to children and teens, serves as a board member of his local chamber of commerce, and serves as elected member of the Board of Selectmen for his town, the Northeast Credit Union has stated.
