Opportunities include helping at Cross Roads House, Strawbery Banke, Gather of Portsmouth, Greater Seacoast Community Health, and serving on City of Portsmouth committees, all aimed at strengthening community connections and quality of life.

Author Rachel Hawkins to Visit The Music Hall Lounge With New Book THE STORM (broadwayworld.com) — A bestselling thriller author is headed to downtown Portsmouth next month, with Rachel Hawkins appearing at The Music Hall Lounge on Congress Street on January 15 at 7 p.m. She’ll discuss her new gothic suspense novel THE STORM with moderator Meg Mitchell Moore, followed by audience Q&A and a meet-and-greet, giving local readers a close-up literary evening.
3. Theft ring targeted Home Depot stores in 9 states, including NY, NH, investigators say; 13 charged (mynbc5.com) — Portsmouth’s Home Depot was among 128 stores in nine states hit by an alleged multi-million-dollar theft ring, according to investigators. A Portsmouth police sergeant described how thieves targeted easily resold construction tools and equipment, with 13 suspects now indicted after more than $2.2 million in goods were reportedly stolen.
4. Portsmouth boys basketball pulls away in second half of season opener (seacoastonline.com) — Portsmouth High School’s boys basketball team opened its season with a 59-40 road win over Manchester Central after breaking the game open in the second half. Led by 17 points from senior Isaiah Reis and strong rebounding and defense, the Clippers built a lead as large as 21 and now turn their attention to hosting Bishop Guertin on Dec. 15.
