Police: Laptop Thief Caught After Pawn Shop Stop

Portsmouth Police provided the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, June 9 to Monday, June 10.

Sunday:

  • At 8:20 a.m., police reported a car accident on Schurman Avenue and Colonial Drive where the driver ran over the curb and then went over a new sewer drain.
  • At 8:32 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Vaughn Street after the caller said someone had flattened her car's tires.
  • At 3:52 p.m., police reported a gas drive off theft on Lafayette Road.
  • At 6:16 p.m., police arrested an East Kingston woman for drunken driving on State Street. Rebecca Harris, 37, of 57 Depot Road was charged with driving while intoxicated.
  • At 7:40 p.m., police reported a dog bite on Market Square.
  • At 9:46 p.m., police arrested a Dover man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Woodbury Avenue. Dalton Bayliss, 18, of 32 Pleasant View Circle, was wanted for unlawful possession of alcohol.
  • At 9:50 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on Pleasant Street after the caller said seven kids were spray painting a car. The car's owner was present and said he allowed the kids to spray paint is vehicle.

  • At 10:54 a.m., police reported a theft of cigarettes and some change from a vehicle on Jones Avenue.
  • At 12:03 p.m., police arrested a Gardiner, Maine woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after she turned herself in at the police station. Sheri Purington, 19, of 175 Capen Road was wanted on a bench warrant.
  • At 1 p.m., police reported criminal mischief after the caller said someone broke a window on his vehicle on Lafayette Road.
  • At 3:58 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on Cabot and Islington streets after the caller said someone smashed her vehicle's passenger side window.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police reported a theft of a laptop on Lafayette Road. Police said the suspect was seen taking the laptop to the Hawk Shop pawn shop on Bartlett Street and was later stopped by State Police on Route 16.
  • At 5:04 p.m., police took a walk in theft report from Hannaford Supermarket on Islington Street.
  • At 5:22 p.m., police reported the theft of two cast iron planters on Middle Street.
  • At 5:34 p.m., police reported a theft on Freedom Circle after the caller said someone broke into his car and took some gas receipts.
