Police Nab NJ Woman for Receiving Stolen Property
Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Monday, Dec. 31.
Wednesday:
- At 10:33 a.m., police reported a theft at a Woodbury Avenue motel after the caller said a couple owed them $740 and left without paying their bill.
- At 11:25 p.m., police reported a drug offense on Doris Avenue that led to the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile for unlawful possession of alcohol and possession of controlled narcotic drugs.

- At 12:03 a.m., police arrested a New Jersey woman on Market Street. Karen Ben, 54, of 1807 Cedar Drive in Medford, N.J., was charged with receiving stolen property.
Friday:
- At 8:07 a.m., police reported a theft on Parrott Avenue after the caller said some copper wiring was stolen.
- At 10:17 p.m., police investigated a prowler complaint on F.W. Hartford Drive, but could not locate any suspects.

- At 5:12 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man for motor vehicle offenses on Spinnaker Way and Staysail Way. Zachary Tye Triano, 36, of 97 Preble Way, Apt. 20, in Portsmouth was charged with operating without a valid license and driving after revocation or suspension.
Sunday:
- At 2:28 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man following a motor vehicle accident on Lafayette Road. Thomas Towle, 46, of 1720 Ocean Road in Portsmouth was charged with driving after revocation or suspension.
Monday:
- At 12:41 p.m., police reported criminal threatening on Woodbury Avenue after the caller said they complained to another driver that they were parking in a handicapped space and the driver responded by calling them a "gang banger" and threatened to shoot them.
- At 3:35 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on the Route 1 Bypass northbound near the Portsmouth Traffic Circle. Gary Steven Murray, 60, of 509 Lafayette Road, Apt. 1, in Portsmouth was wanted on a bench warrant.
- At 8:23 p.m., police arrested a Rochester man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on State Street. William Scott Grant, 41, of 15 Temple Drive in Rochester was charged with possession of controlled narcotic drugs, falsifying physical evidence and on a bench warrant.
- At 10:52 p.m., police arrested a Massachusetts man on Hanover Street. Benjamin K. Cross, 22, of 15 Fearing St., Apt. 2, in Amherst, Mass., was charged with disorderly conduct.
