Police Called for Fishermen Fight on Peirce Island

Portsmouth Police provided the following information. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Thursday, Sept. 19 to Friday, Sept. 20.

Thursday:

  • At 9:22 a.m., police arrested Somersworth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he was detained by the Strafford County Sheriff's Department. Robert Kimball, 23, of 124 Verona Road was wanted for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and theft; from a building.
  • At 12:29 p.m., police reported the theft of a Razor scooter on Parrott Avenue.
  • At 1:01 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on Market Square after a man was seen pulling money from a parking meter.
  • At 5:17 p.m., police reported a road rage incident on Parrott Avenue after a driver who was backing up his vehicle at 30 mph got out of his car and yelled at another driver who was beeping his horn. The first driver then followed the second driver to the Portsmouth Public Library and continued to shout at him.
  • At 8:42 p.m., police reported a child/family dispute complaint on Greenland Road after a mother said her husband was scheduled to drop off their three children at the Park and Ride facility and showed up highly intoxicated. She told police that he drove away towards Greenland after dropping off their children.
Friday:
  • At 12:15 a.m., police reported criminal mischief at Beechstone Apartments after the caller said someone slashed their vehicle's tires and damaged one of their car windows.
  • At 6:27 a.m., police arrested a Greenland man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he was detained by Greenland Police. Michael Brent Sargent, 30, of 11 McShane Ave. was wanted for criminal threatening (intimidation, etc.), violation of a protective order; penalty and a bench warrant.
  • At 9:23 a.m., police issued two citations for violations of the city's open container ordinance to two Portsmouth men who were drinking alcohol at the Vaughn Mall.
  • At 10:40 a.m., police reported a burglary on Madison Street.
  • At 3:45 p.m., police reported a fight between two fishermen on Peirce Island as they were hauling their boats out of the water.
  • At 6:32 p.m., police reported a four-car accident on Greenleaf Avenue and the Route One Bypass northbound.
  • At 9:41 p.m., police arrested a Rochester man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Woodbury Avenue and Dennett Street. Jason M. Hilton, 37, of 176 Glenwood Ave. was wanted for theft by deception.
