Police Rescue Baby Bird Found on Cruiser

Portsmouth Police provided the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Wednesday, May 29.

Wednesday:

  • At 8:39 a.m., police reported a burglary at construction site on Lafayette Road next to the Goodwill store. Police said some of the items that were stolen included a generator, hammer drill, chop saw, microwave and several hand tools.
  • At 10:02 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after she turned herself in at the police station. Leslie Menegaz, 42, of 141 Sagamore Ave. was wanted for stalking, simple assault and harassment.
  • At 12:02 p.m., police arrested a Somersworth man on Congress Street after he had stolen a pair of blue jeans valued at $178 who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. Matthew Montgomery, 18, of 639 Sherwood Glen Park was wanted on an arrest warrant and for receiving stolen property. wilful concealment and default or breach of bail conditions.
  • At 12:32 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman for drunken driving on Lafayette Road. Sara Hall, 39, of 57 Concord Way was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated (second offense) and transporting alcoholic beverages.
  • At 12:40 p.m., police reported a theft on Hanover Street after the caller said someone stole his sunglasses and change from his vehicle.
  • At 1:27 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on the Route 1 Bypass southbound who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. Bernard F. Shadrawy, 42, address unknown, was wanted on a bench warrant.
  • At 2:01 p.m., police reported a simple assault on Gosling Road that happened on Memorial Day.
  • At 2:47 p.m., police reported an animal call on Arthur Brady Drive after the caller said there was a raccoon in the road that was holding up traffic and appeared to be removed.
  • At 3:33 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Bartlett Street. Arthur L. Detullio, 56, of 54 Bartlett St.  was wanted for being a sex offender who failed to report his status to police.
  • At 6:43 p.m., police reported that a University of New Hampshire Wildcat transit bus was struck by a tractor-trailer truck on Dennett Street and Woodbury Avenue. The truck damaged the bus' mirror and continued on its way.
  • At 6:47 p.m., police reported a theft at Beechstone Apartments after the caller said his GPS navigational device was stolen from his vehicle.
  • At 7:05 p.m., police reported that a baby bird was left on top of a police cruiser on Lafayette Road. Police transported the bird to a bird specialist in Rye.
