Police Searching for Burglary Suspect
Portsmouth Police are asking for the public's help to locate a male burglary suspect who broke into a McKinley Road home on Friday and stole some jewelry.

Portsmouth Police are looking for a burglary suspect who broke into one home on Friday and then tried to break into a second home.
According to Portsmouth Police Lt. Michael Maloney, chief of the detectives division, the first incident took place on Friday at about 4 p.m. when police responded to a McKinley Road residence for a report of a burglary. Police officers saw there was forced entry and some jewelry was stolen. Police also reported there was no one home at the time of the burglary.
Maloney also said police received a second report of a male suspect described as white, 5’8”, bald, 170 lbs, late 30’s and was operating a small brown SUV with Massachusetts license plates who approached a Taft Road home.

According to the caller, police said the male subject knocked on the front door and then ran around and knocked on the back door of the residence. The caller told police to male subject looked frantic.
"Entry was never made into the residence and the subject left. Officers were dispatched to the area but did not locate anyone fitting the description," Maloneuy wrote in a e-mail press release.

Maloney also wrote that Portsmouth Police are asking for the public’s assistance in attempting to identify the subject(s) involved. He said police are encouraging residents to lock their doors and windows. They should also report any suspicious activity or persons should be reported to police.
