Police: Test Drive Leads to Arrest
Portsmouth Police provided the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Thursday, June 6 to Friday, June 7.
Thursday:
- At 9:24 a.m., police arrested a student for truancy on Blue Heron Drive.
- At 3:03 p.m., police reported fraud on Springbrook Circle after a couple said someone scammed them out of an unspecified sum of money by telling them they were with the Internal Revenue Service.
- At 4:55 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on Cass Street after the caller said a juvenile was digging up one of the city's new sidewalks.

- At 8:30 a.m., police reported a burglary at a Congress Street restaurant.
- At 9:54 a.m., police arrested a Newmarket woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after she was detained by Newmarket Police. Jill LaPlante, 32, of 9A River St., Apt. B16, was wanted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Last week, police reported that Portsmouth Ford said a female customer took a vehicle for a test drive and failed to return it. The vehicle was later located in Newmarket and returned to the dealership.
- At 12:10 p.m., police reported an animal call on Edgewood Road that involved cruelty to rabbits.
- At 3:19 p.m., police reported a theft on Broadcast Lane after two sets of bunker pants and boots were stolen.
- At 3:22 p.m., police reported the theft of two watches valued at $800 from a Woodbury Avenue store.
