Portsmouth Boy Shot, Killed In South Carolina: Reports
The Little Harbor Elementary School student was killed, his father injured; Charles Allen of Florence, SC, is charged with attempted murder.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A man from South Carolina was accused by police in that state of killing a Portsmouth elementary school student and injuring his father on Saturday.
The boy and his father were shot while in a car on Old River Road in Florence County, SC. The boy died on Monday; his father is still in recovery, reports stated.
Charles Montgomery Allen, 40, was accused of randomly shooting at cars outside his home. He was arrested on two counts of attempted murder, three counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, aircraft, etc., and a single count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, if not also sentenced to life without parole or death.

Officials said Allen had a criminal history.
“No motive,” Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye. said. “Just probably methed up. He’s got a history … just a senseless, senseless act.”

Family members said the father and boy were in the county for a high school graduation.
Steve Zadravec, the superintendent of schools in Portsmouth, issued a statement to the community on Monday, telling parents resources were available to help the boy’s classmates deal with the tragedy.
“An event like this touches our community as a whole,” he said. “Our hearts are with the family as we support each other through this unbelievable tragedy.”
