Arrests in connection with Wednesday's baseball bat assault are among items reported in the Portsmouth police log for May 8 to May 9.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — The following incidents have been reported in the Portsmouth police log for May 8 to May 9. Arrests do not indicate guilt. The names of any minors have been omitted.
Wednesday, May 8:
5:13 p.m. — A man overdoses on heroin at Crossroads. At the hospital, police serve him a trespass notice for the homeless shelter.

8:37 a.m. — A vehicle accident is reported at the Portsmouth traffic circle. The State Police is called.
8:42 a.m. — A second vehicle is reported at the traffic circle. Portsmouth police assist State Police on scene.

9:11 a.m. — A suspicious vehicle is reported in the area of International Drive and Rye Street. The vehicle is gone by the time police arrive.
9:24 a.m. — A lost or stolen phone is reported.
9:37 a.m. — A child won't go to school and parents can't be reached. Police determine the child is home sick.
10:30 a.m. — A three-vehicle accident occurs on Taft Road, where a Mazda bumped into a Nissan, which bumped into a truck. No injuries are reported.
10:30 a.m. — Theft is reported on Taft Road.
10:45 a.m. — Police gave a verbal warning to a woman soliciting money from a roadway.
10:51 a.m. — Someone reports a little white dog barking inside of a parked vehicle. The vehicle is gone when police arrive.
11:24 a.m. — A two-vehicle accident is reported on Court Street.
11:55 a.m. — A minor accident is reported on Lafayette Road. No one is injured.
12:48 p.m. — A dog is reported on Pierce Island. Police issue a verbal warning.
12:59 p.m. — Police check on someone who has been missing medical appointments. No one is home.
1:03 p.m. — Police recover a lost moped plate.
1:11 p.m. — Aggravated domestic assault involving a minor is reported.
1:31 p.m. — Speeding cars are reported on Fairview Avenue, a caller would like more patrols there.
1:39 p.m. — A suspicious man looking inside of vehicles is reported on Commerce Way, police talk to him about a trespass notice.
2 p.m. — Two dogs have been barking all day inside a vehicle parked in the shade. The owner tells police they have been checking on the dogs frequently.
2:50 p.m. — Skateboarders are reported in front of an Islington Street store, despite the "no skateboarding" sign. They are gone by the time police arrive.
3:05 p.m. — Kids selling lemonade are told to stay off the road.
3:45 p.m. — Police serve a trespass notice to a woman on Ledgewood Drive. On Wedgewood Road, an assault that occurred the previous day is reported.
4 p.m. — Aggravated assault is reported on Wedgewood Road. The 911 dispatcher hears screaming. An ambulance is called. Police review video surveillance and arrest Rene M. Laverde, 45, of Portsmouth, and Joshua S. Burnett, 41, of Portsmouth, on one count of first-degree assault each, charging them with striking a victim with aluminum baseball bats.
4:29 p.m. — A woman is transported to the hospital after being "clipped" by a bicyclist as she was getting off the bus near Andrew Jarvis Drive.
4:47 p.m. — Two kids are reported skateboarding in the parking lot on Islington Street, almost getting hit by cars. Police talk to them about safety.
5:14 p.m. — Someone turns in an LG cell phone they had found.
6:55 p.m. — Road rage is reported in the area of South Street and Lafayette Road.
7:29 p.m. — Someone reports a "Sheppard/wolf looking dog" near the traffic circle with a collar loose. The dog is gone by the time police arrive.
9:02 p.m. — A man is transported to Rockingham County jail for a 72-hour hold. A woman is also transported.
Thursday, May 9:
12:21 a.m. — Someone reports theft of a ring and some cash.
1:32 a.m. — A woman says that someone went through her car and possibly stole items.
