Portsmouth Police Log: 'Snapping Turtle,' Turkeys In Road

Cases of graffiti and wild animals crossing the road were reported in the Portsmouth police log for June 10 to June 12.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — The following items were selected from the Portsmouth police log. Arrests do not indicate guilt. The names of any minors have been omitted.

Monday, June 10

2:17 a.m. — Somersworth police arrest Wesley Ramsey, 33, of Rochester, on a Portsmouth warrant for a drug possession charge.

1:11 p.m. — At Woodbury Avenue and Durgin Lane, Fire Department takes down an old fire alarm wire that was blocking traffic.

3:29 p.m. — Juan Shay Jenkins, 18, of Portsmouth, is charged with criminal trespass.

3:59 p.m. — A suspicious van is reported on Suzanne Drive. It is a door-to-door salesman selling Kirby vacuum cleaners.

6:12 p.m. — On South Street, Portsmouth police locate a vehicle that was involved in an accident in Greenland. The vehicle has significant damage to the front.

6:25 p.m. — Construction noise near Thornton Street results in a noise complaint.

7:57 p.m. — Someone gets a warning for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

10:07 p.m. — On Islington Street, four men have an argument and one of them reportedly has a knife. The group then disperses to the railroad tracks and vehicles.

10:34 p.m. — A woman pays respects at the cemetery on Greenland Road.

Tuesday, June 11

1:36 a.m. — A caller reports someone being intoxicated in a vehicle at the Foundry parking garage. Police give him a ride to the police station for his father to pick him up.

11:10 a.m. — A downtown restaurant reports theft after someone placed a $490 order the previous night and didn't show up. Another Portsmouth restaurant reportedly had a similar incident.

12:30 p.m. — A man who rented a tuxedo has returned it to the wrong store. The tuxedo has been recovered.

1:13 p.m. — An iPhone is reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Mirona Road earlier this month.

2:32 p.m. — A vehicle accident with no injuries is reported near the intersection of Corporate Drive and Rye Street.

2:56 p.m. — Threats via Facebook are reported.

5:24 p.m. — A report of identity theft is entered into NCIC.

5:45 p.m. — A "large snapping turtle" is reported on Banfield Road near Peverly Hill Road. The turtle is not there when police arrive.

10:05 p.m. — A motorcycle reportedly fell on another motorcycle in a Woodbury Avenue parking lot.

Wednesday, June 12

9:26 a.m. — A rock reportedly strikes a vehicle as public works mows the lawn on Spinnaker Way.

9:29 a.m. — Graffiti is reported on the side of a building on Islington Street.

11:02 a.m. — A store manager on Lafayette Road reports four missing state inspection stickers.

11:31 a.m. — Someone reports illegal passing of a school bus that happened earlier.

1:18 p.m. — After a notification from Exeter police, Portsmouth police are on the lookout for a man with two bench warrants and one Exeter arrest warrant who may be coming to Portsmouth's DCYF office. Police in Manchester are contacted.

1:21 p.m. — Turkeys in the road are reported on Market Street near Interstate 95. The turkeys are gone when police arrive.

2:37 p.m. — A church on Woodbury Avenue reports that a man came into a female-only prayer group looking for a drink and refuses to leave. Church members later changed their minds and decided to let him stay. The man then left the property after police arrival.

3:07 p.m. — Giuseppe Maini, 59, of Portsmouth, is arrested on a warrant.

5:54 p.m. — Two passengers get road rash after a moped accident on Middle Street.

9:58 p.m. — Fireworks and loud laughing are reported near Gates and Marcy streets.

1:30 p.m. — Police give a man a ride to Motel 6 after he is found sleeping in a foyer on Deer Street.
