Portsmouth Police: Man Fired Gun In Fight With Girlfriend

Portsmouth police said Trevor Wright threatened his girlfriend and took her phone when she tried to call police.

PORTSMOUTH, NH -- A Maine man was arrested in Portsmouth Wednesday morning after police said he fired a gun during a fight with his girlfriend then ran off as officers responded to rescue her. Trevor Wright (pictured), 22, of Lebanon, faces a host of charges, including felony-level domestic violence and reckless conduct. He was held in custody at the Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood pending an arraignment later Wednesday.

"(Wright) was at a local bar in the downtown area of Portsmouth with his girlfriend. While they were there, an argument ensued between them and rose to the point where Wright allegedly threatened bodily harm to his girlfriend. They left the establishment together ... once they reached ... Kane Street, it is alleged Wright continued to threaten his girlfriend, took her cell phone from her, and threw it to the ground as she was trying to call police."

Wright then fired a pistol in an "unknown direction" then ran off and tossed the weapon, according to Kinsman. Responding officers made contact with the woman and Wright, who was taken into custody without incident.
