Portsmouth Police National Night Out

Portsmouth is participating in the 35th annual National Night Out.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Portsmouth is participating in the 35th annual National Night Out with a festival Tuesday. The event, hosted by Portsmouth police, is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown neighborhoods. There will be block parties, children's activities food and police vehicles on display.

"National Night Out is America’s night out against crime," Portsmouth police said in a statement. "The annual event is held throughout the United States to promote cooperation between police departments and communities. This event is designed to heighten crime prevention and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police partnerships within the community; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back."
