Public Meeting To Discuss Route 1 Roadwork In Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Local residents are invited to a public meeting to address concerns, needs and questions regarding roadwork on Route 1 in Portsmouth. State transportation officials plan to improve about 1.7 miles of roadway on Route 1. The goal is to enhance traffic flow and safety along the corridor, according to New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, starting at 7 p.m. According to the DOT, the current plans include Route 1 roadwork from Constitution Avenue to Wilson Road, and from Ocean Road to White Cedar Boulevard.

DOT officials stated that the project may have an effect on cultural or historic resources. Those who have an interest in those potential impacts will have the opportunity to become consulting parties for the project, DOT officials stated.

The meeting will be a chance for transportation officials to gain input on residents' needs and goals for the area, and to ensure protection and enhancement of the environment, according to the DOT. It will take place at City Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
