Rep Takes on America's Pastime This Weekend

Second City to parlay some laughs at Music Hall; Brown Bird to rock the Press Room Saturday night; Restaurant Week Portsmouth and the Seacoast continues.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. Up for some laughs: The Second City comedy troupe will bring their show, "Laughing Matters," to the Music Hall on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 and $25 each.

2. "Rounding Third" at The Rep: The play, "Rounding Third," which tells the story of two Little League coaches who debate the timeless question of whether they are playing to win or to have fun begins its run at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre this weekend.

3. See Sweat Pants in Public: The band Sweat Pants in Public will play at the Thirsty Moose Taphouse on Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

4. Brown Bird at Press Room: The duo Brown Bird will bring their sound to the Press Room on Saturday night. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $8- to $10 each.

5. Restaurant Week continues: The Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce's Restaurant Week Portsmouth and the Seacoast continues through April 13, which means dining patrons can score some great deals all weekend long at several Portsmouth restaurants.
