Restaurant Week in Full Swing

USS Thresher victims to be remembered this weekend; city's Economic Development Commission to meet Friday morning; partly sunny, mild day in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: Today will be partly sunny with a high temperature near 56 degrees. On Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low temperature around 29 degrees.

2. USS Thresher victims to remembered: This coming weekend, hundreds of Portsmouth area residents will come together to remember the 129 sailors and civilians who perished on the USS Thresher (SSN 593) on April 10, 1963. There will be a 50th Annual USS Thresher Memorial Service on Saturday at Portsmouth High School and the USS Thresher Memorial dedication at the Kittery Traffic Circle on Sunday morning. Both events are by invitation only.

3. Restaurant week: Restaurant Week Portsmouth and the Seacoast is begins today and runs through April 13.

4. Sarah Mildred Long Bridge closed: According to New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials, the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge will remain closed for two to four weeks after it sustained structural damage from a tanker that crashed into it on Monday.

5. Economic Development Commission meeting: The city's Economic Development Commission will meet on Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the Discover Portsmouth Center. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.
