Runner's Alley to Honor Marathon Bombing Victims

Portsmouth-based business to hold a Run for Boston Saturday morning.

Runner's Alley owner Jeanine Sylvester wanted to do something to help the victims of Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon and on Wednesday she decided to do what they do best – hold a run.

According to Runner's Alley's Facebook page, Sylvester announced Runner's Alley will hold a Run for Boston on Saturday at 8 a.m. at its Portsmouth, Manchester and Nashua stores.

"We'll run to raise money for those in need, we'll run to begin the healing process, we'll run to be with our community, we'll run because we can, for those who can't, we'll run because no one can ever stop us," Sylvester wrote. "Please come show your support for all those affected by Monday's tragedy, donate what you can, but most importantly just come. Let's show these victims that runners are the most resilient, caring people you can ever meet."

"Two days have passed since the horrific events at the Boston Marathon. We're all in a daze and trying to understand how anyone could ever do such a thing, but there is no understanding, just deep heartache and sadness. Our hearts ache for all the victims and their families, while our minds and bodies want to react," she wrote.

Sylvester believes the run is a way for Runner's Alley members to help restore hope and faith in mankind and make a difference. She said refreshments will be served at all three stores.
